In this month's newsletter, read about the the launch of an ambitious, nationwide push to immunize 70 million children against Measles-Rubella. As President Joko Widodo reminded those gathered for the campaign launch in Yogyakarta, "We have a duty as parents, and a duty as the State to protect our children." The goal is to eliminate both diseases by 2020. In Kupang, read about how UNICEF's Adolescent Kit for Expression and Innovation is helping youth step up and contribute to village development. “Some people told us: ‘You’re only children...don’t try to give advice about things you know nothing about’,” recalls one 18-year old woman. “But...eventually some adults stopped and listened to what we had to say and that gave us the confidence to continue...". Finally, read how children in Banda Aceh like Yudha are navigating the justice system 5 years after passage of the Juvenile Justice Law, as UNICEF continues to advocate for the preservation of childhoods and the protection of children's rights.
