Achieving the SDGs can present great business opportunities, but the opposite is also true. Not reaching those Goals can have major negative consequences for companies and their finances and, therefore, for investor financial returns. Therefore, investors need to know the positive and negative effects that a business has on contributing to the SDG targets This data must be credible, of high quality and built on a stakeholder dialogue. Efforts to document the private sectors’ contributions to achieving the SDGs are already underway.

Water flows through the core of the United Nations’ mission. Access to safe water is a human right and – along with access to sanitation facilities – a key driver of sustainable development. Yet, nearly one third of the global population today do not use safely managed drinking water services and only two-fifths have access to safely managed sanitation services.

In the fourth year of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Indonesia has made tremendous progress in the fight against hunger, with recent statistics showing positive trends in food security and malnutrition. However, the positive trends are not changing the fact that stunting resulting from severe malnutrition, remains high in Indonesia, with almost one in three children in Indonesia still being stunted.

The Indonesia UN Consultative Forum (IUNCF) provides a unique platform for dialogue between the UN and the Government of Indonesia. The UN Resident Coordinator thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for hosting the fourth plenary meeting which aims to improve the partnership in operational and information sharing areas.
